Madhuri, by The Quilted Fish

I'm so bad at keeping secrets, but I was able to keep this sweet Mini under wraps until after Quilt Market- go me!!!  A couple weeks before Quilt Market, sweet Amanda of The Quilted Fish sent the Creative Team some of her new Madhuri fabric to play with.  We all made "Modern Mini Quilts", which were hung in Amanda's booth at Quilt Market.

This is the front of my Madhuri Mini.  I love the fussy cut elephant and the traditional Churn Dash block.

 

I pieced the back and quilted (for the the very first time!!!) this Mini with straight line stitches.  I love the simplity of the quliting, however am still bummed that the pink eleephant seam is wonky - you live and learn!

Quilt Market- Part 3 {The Quilted Fish's Booth}

Ever wonder how a booth at Quilt Market goes up?  I have a couple of progress photos to share, and then of course the final product (which was a gorgeous and unique booth, if I may say so myself!).  :)

Here is the final booth in all of its glory!!!  How cute is the booth!?!  Amanda did a wonderful job planning out every last detail and I'm so thankful that I was able to be a part of it!  :)

Amanda had a vision to really get the shop owners involved in Market this year, which lead to the offering of our very popular Necklace Workshop!  One person from every store had the opportunity to sign up, sit down, and make a necklace (which is a project in our new book An Apple a Day, 9 projects for the daily life of sewist, quilters and crafters.

Quilt Market- Part 2 {Designer Sightings}

My favorite part of Quilt Market (besides Sample Spree and all of the new fabric designs) is having a chance to chat with some of my favorite fabric designers.

It was so nice to have the chance to see sweet Vanessa Christenson of V and Co. again, as we originally met at The Sewing Summit in October!  :) 

She had a booth at Market to promote her patterns and her new fabric line with Moda, Simply Color.  I'm loving the chevron print, as well as all of the ombre choices!  :)

This is myself, Sandy Klop of American Jane patterns and fabric, and my bestie Jana.

Liesl Gibson of Oliver + S, who is just as sweet and personable as I had hoped for!  After reading designer's blogs and following their successes, I always feel like I really know them (please tell me I'm not the only one that feels this way!).

I have to say that Liesl's Straight Stitch Society Manifesto was a hit among all!

Anna Maria Horner and her stunning booth (I love all of her attention to detail)! 

Anna Maria's newest fabric collection is Field Study Fabrics, I don't know about you but I'm loving the Moonlit colorway!

I am always in awe of Amy Butler and her creative abilities!  It was a pleasure having the chance to see her again.  The first time we met at Spring Quilt Market 2011 she asked when I was going to have a booth at Market for my patterns (I'm pretty sure I blushed!), which I thought was such a sweet gesture.  She is so very gracious and really wants to get to know her customers at Market, which I think is great!  :)

Amy's beautiful new fabric collection, Cameo.  See the upholstered chair in the top right corner?  I really need to pick one up at the local thrift store and upholster one for my sewing room.  How fun would that be?  :)

Joel Dewberry mentioned that he has a new fabric collection being released in the very near future.  I can't wait to see what he has up his sleeve, as I love everything he does.

Quilt Market- Part 1 {My Pattern is in a BOOK!!!}

I feel like I should be wearing a "I Survived Quilt Market" t-shirt!  :)  Quilt Market was held in Kansas City, MO this time around, and I had so much fun!  I'm planning to recap my experience for you (lots of photos, little text!), but first wanted to share what The Quilted Fish's Creative Consultants Design Team has been up to.  Let's just say we all know how to keep a secret!  ;)

Okay, are you ready?  The Creative Consultants Design Team teamed up with The Quilted Fish and we debuted a book at Quilt Market- oh yeah!!!  The book is titled An Apple a Day, and includes nine projects for the daily life of quilters, sewists, and crafters.

This is the cover of the book (I want you to know what to look for in your local quilt shop!).  :)  Amanda designed the project on the cover, "Inside the Box", which is beautiful and handy sewing box.  I really need to make myself one of these!

Jackie designed this beautiful "Dare to Dream" necklace, which was a hit at Quilt Market, as The Quilted Fish's booth featured a make and take for shop owners.  Every shop owner had the chance to make one of these beautiful necklaces, that way they had an already assembled sample for when they get home.  Genius, right!?!

 

 

Jana designed this "Body and Sole" quilt, which is a great use for Rolie Polies (2.5" strips of Riley Blake fabrics).

 

Brooke designed this "Apples in the Orchard" quilt, which uses fat quarters.  I don't know about you, but I love finding quilt patterns that use fat quarters!  :)

I designed these fun and festive "Pick of the Bunch" herringbone placemats. They may look complicated, but I promise they are not!  :)

Stephanie designed this "Core Essentials" binder, which is full of zipper pockets and such to help keep you organized when on the go!

 

Julie designed this "Pack and Press" which is holds your cutting mat, rotary cutter, and opens up into an ironing surface!

Johanna designed this "Carry It All Along" bag which is a perfect solution to organization while in your home studio, and when traveling to a sewing class.

Last but not least, Sally designed this "Apple Blessings Mini Art Quilt", which is such a beautiful combination of quilting, hand embroidery, and embellishments.

Quilt Market- Day 2 + 3

I know I'm a week or two late, but I wanted to share a couple of photos from my adventures at Quilt Market (Sunday and Monday)!  

My Momma and I spent time in Basic Grey's booth admiring their fun fabric and craft supplies.  Do you see all of those buttons and flowers on the wall- love!!!  :)

I also love their wall art, made from fabric buttons, and an assortment of embellishments.  I may need a canvas for my sewing studio!  :)

I'm always excited to see the fabrics and samples that Echino displays at Market.  Not to mention that I think I need to make one of their sweet zippered/gusseted pouches (I love the yellow, green, and blue pouch!).  I just may have to treat myself to some of their fabric at Sample Spree in May (Kansas City, MO)!

Remember when I told you that my goal on Sunday was to track down Ty Pennington (after spotting him on Saturday)!?!  Well unfortunately he and his body guard (I still giggle over the fact that he had a body guard at Quilt Market!) were only at Market for one day, so I have no photo to show- bummer!  I did take a couple photos of his booth, which will hopefully tie you over until next year's market.

I love his wall of ties.  So simple, but definitely an eye catcher!

Speaking of men, David Butler (Amy Butler's husband) debuted Parson Gray at Quilt Market!  Be sure to keep an eye out for his first line, Curious Nature, as I know I will (I'm loving the grays and blues!).

Moda's designer booth was fantastic!  I absolutely fell in love with Summersville (left portion of the photo) by Lucie Summers.  It could probably go without mentioning, but the right portion of the photo highlights Kate Spain's Good Fortune fabric line.  I love the beautiful play of oranges and purples!

I absolutely fell in love with the custom upholstered chairs.  I really think I need to get my hands on a chair from the thrift store, and invest in fabric, as custom chairs are SO fun!  The theme for the Moda designer's booth this go around was 'Made With Love'...does that sound familiar!?!  :)  My Momma and I were chatting with one of the Moda employees and mentioned that my blog's name was Made With Love.  Long story short she stuffed a sweet Made With Love pillow (the rectangular pillow in the photo above, next to the sewing machine) into my bag!  So fun!!!  :)
