I can't tell you how happy and pleased I am to debut my original sewing tags!!! By means of the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day, I found Kristel in the Netherlands that carves personalized rubber stamps (send her a photograph and she'll carve your face).
I ordered the stamp with one project in mind...sewing labels, the perfect handmade detail!
After some stamping, scanning, printing, and test runs with natural cotton twill tape (not good!), I ended up with the final product (see below).
Diaper/Wipes Pouch
The diapers/wipe pouch for the upcoming baby shower is complete! Woo hoo! It probably took me +/- 4 hours to complete both projects (granted I'm a bit slow as everything must be PERFECT!). All in all, I'm very happy with the outcome!
I made some slight adjustments to the pattern as I added interfacing, made a fabric handle (rather than ribbon which the pattern called for), and made some adjustments to the unsightly velcro. I hope it's a hit! :)

I LOVE a Good Deal!!!

I have to give props to my mom, as she found Strawberry Patches' awesome $4 a yard sale! Unfortunately I didn't get all of the Amy Butler prints I wanted (very limited supply- thus the crazy sale!). However I'm super excited to start my stash with the Amy Butler and Sandi Henderson prints I did get! :)
My loot consists of the top three fabrics, and my mom's loot are the bottom three! Not to shabby, if I say so myself!!!

I'm Ready to Sew Again
June 25, 2009
As of yesterday at about 11am, I am officially done with my crafting hiatus! Woo hoo!!! I sat for one of my architecture licensing tests, and feel good about the outcome, so hopefully the mailman will be the bearer of good news (+/- 4 weeks from now).
First on my sewing 'to do list' is to make sewing tags (stay tuned for a photo), as well as the diaper/wipes case as the baby shower is fast approaching...so much to do and so little time! ;o)

A Trip Down Memory Lane
June 13, 2009
Since making and gifting three baby quilts (plus one more on my 'to do list') I've found myself reminiscing about my baby/childhood blanket, so today I pulled out the blanket from its safe keeping, and took a trip down memory lane.
When I was a wee baby my Grandma M. made me a yellow checkered blanket with an appliqued teddy bear, and from what I remember I didn't go anywhere with out my blanket! Nearly twenty-seven years later, the blanket is a tad bit worn (see picture to the left).
Being the awesome Grandma she is, a few years back, Grandma M. made me a duplicate yellow checkered blanket (see below), for her future great grandchildren to enjoy, just as I did for many years.
With this post, I hope that the quilts I make and gift are loved just as I loved (and my future children will love) my yellow checkered blanket. Thanks Grandma!

Remember my previous post about Sew Mama Sew's Giveaway Day? Last week I got a sweet comment from Tammie of craftytammie letting me know that she drew my name for one of her handmade clutches, which can be seen here! I'll post a picture when the package arrives- I can't wait!
Craftytammie also lead me to Sewn's blog launch/giveaway day where I won a bundle of 60 fat quarters from Shadow Play by Maywood Studio, which was donated by Di Mill and Lloyd Curzon. I'll also post a picture of the fat quarters when they arrive from Australia (so exciting!).
I'm thinking I might be due for a blog giveaway after my craft hiatus- what do you think? :)
***UPDATE*** The mailman delivered the awesome clutch from craftytammie. I love the fabric and how useful the clutch will be in my purse as it is perfect size to hold makeup, coupons, pictures, etc. Thank you Tammie!!!

In the Pipeline
June 6, 2009
I hope everyone is having a great Saturday! This morning I ventured to M&L Fabrics, accompanied by Mr. D, as we were on a mission to select fabrics for a masculine quilt. If you know Mr. D, he is a huge football fan (Pittsburgh Steelers and Georgia Bulldogs), thus our fabric picks below!
I'll be using the yellow, blue, red, black, and football fabrics for the quilt, and the Steelers fabric as the border. Keep an eye out, as I'll post progress photos!

I also picked up some Amy Butler fabrics for a Diaper/Wipes Case, as Mr. D's coworker is expecting a girl at the end of the summer. I plan on using the floral for the outside of the diaper pouch and the coordinating fabric for the lining.

The pipeline looks to be getting full (SBQ mystery quilt, snail quilt, Mr. D's football quilt, diaper/wipe case, craft swap project, snail mail craft swap with Alia, pillows for the couch), but then again I couldn't be happier, as I love being able to provide handmade gifts to my friends and family!
Hippest Chef in Town!

Remember the story about going to the quilt shop with my Grandma B. to pick out fabric for my apron? Below is the outcome of the aforementioned shopping trip and lots of hard work on my Grandma B.'s part. I must say, it's a beauty (not to mention that I'm one lucky girl!). :)
First Ever Local Craft Swap!
June 3, 2009
In the crafting world there are sewers, quilters, painters, jewelry artists, scrapbookers, woodworkers, photographers, knitters...just to name a few! With that being said, what better way to flex your creative muscles and hang out with friends than a local Craft Swap?
I am happy to announce that I’m organizing our first ever local Craft Swap! The Craft Swap will consist of five crafty ladies (Megan, Robbie, Kiara, Sherri, and I), thus we will each bring four crafty items to the party and we’ll go home with 4 unique crafty items, it’s a win-win situation! Stay tuned as the Craft Swap will be taking place sometime in August. If you’re interested in organizing your own local craft swap, you should take a look at the creativeness that takes place at Burrow House’s local Craft Swap.

As for my craft, I’ve already decided what I’m going to make and have a prototype made, which is currently being tested by my hubby! Stay tuned for a picture parade of the Craft Swap outcome, as I have some awesomely creative family and friends!
