If it's for the base, I buy about one yard. If it's for a ruffle, I know that I can get a few ruffles out of 1/2 yard. Since my items are small I don't need much fabric. And also because most of my items are one-of-a-kind, I don't buy much for extra.

Hope that helps :)

Love,
GussyGussy Sewshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14338132607881741246noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3677762797139668614.post-16776063229268963652009-09-23T22:15:45.709-07:002009-09-23T22:15:45.709-07:00Hi, Candice! I've enjoyed looking through yours, too!

When I first started quilting, I collected fat quarters. However, I don't do scrappy quilts, so the fat quarters don't get used. Now, I usually buy a yard if I like a fabric, 5 if I think it'll make a great backing.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3677762797139668614.post-540242784907567462009-09-22T15:42:55.203-07:002009-09-22T15:42:55.203-07:00I'm not a stasher, but I agree that it depends...I'm not a stasher, but I agree that it depends on what you plan for the fabric. Fat quarters or 1/2 yard for quilting (except backings) and 1-3 yards for clothing. When I am planning dresses or skirts for my girls, I will buy at least 1 yard. Otherwise, 1/2. I rarely buy more than 1.5 yards, unless it's for a specific project that I know will use that much.
Hope that helps.Beahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03132763907056317070noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3677762797139668614.post-51008155700134784102009-09-22T12:41:45.745-07:002009-09-22T12:41:45.745-07:00Thanks for commenting on my blog, Candice....like ...Thanks for commenting on my blog, Candice....like I NEED one more blog on my Google Reader!! :D I love the things you've made, very nice color and fabric choices! So as you have seen....I tend to go with the yard of fabric..and if it is at the end of the bolt, "well, just give me the rest"!!! And if it is clearanced out, then I get 2 yards at least. AND on top of all of that, I am the remnant QUEEN!! I won't pass a remnant bin without picking out something!Lauraniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13328013036764994661noreply@blogger.com
